Privacy Policy for Mock GPS

Effective date: November 4, 2026
Last updated: November 4, 2026

Wolftrail Studio ("we", "us", or "our") provides Mock GPS for Android, package com.mockgps.app. This policy explains local location tools, online map services, advertising and consent, and information you choose to share with us. Features and advertising availability depend on your installed version and configuration.

Accounts and local information

Mock GPS does not require a Wolftrail Studio account or login. We do not operate a Mock GPS cloud account, route-sync backend, or Firebase analytics service.

The app stores information on your device to provide its features. This may include saved places and coordinates, recent places, favorites, routes and route names, recorded tracks and timing, imported files, tags, map and motion preferences, app settings, and advertising frequency and optional ad-free reward expiry information. Location and route information can be sensitive, especially when it identifies a home, workplace, or travel pattern.

Mock GPS does not automatically upload your complete saved place library or recorded track library to a Wolftrail Studio server. Online features send the information needed for their requests to the services described below. Android backup and restore behavior can also affect local data, depending on your device and system settings.

Location, recording, and Android permissions

With your permission, the app accesses your device's real location for functions such as locating you on the map, recording a track, checking mock location behavior, and restoring normal location operation. Recording can include precise coordinates and timestamps. The mock location tools also process coordinates you select, enter, import, or receive through sharing.

When you select Mock GPS as the mock location app in Android Developer options, it can provide simulated location to Android. Other apps that receive Android location may then receive the simulated position. Their collection and use of that information follow their own policies.

An active location session uses an Android foreground service and notification. Optional floating controls require permission to display over other apps. Notification, location, and overlay permissions support those features; granting them does not authorize us to upload your saved routes for advertising. You can manage permissions in Android settings. Stopping a session and revoking permissions may limit related functions.

Online maps, search, routing, and shared links

Online requests expose your IP address and ordinary network metadata to the receiving provider. Depending on the feature, requests can also contain geographic information:

  • Maps: the default map styles and tiles come from OpenFreeMap. Requests reveal the map areas and zoom levels being viewed. Map data includes OpenStreetMap and OpenMapTiles sources.
  • Place search and reverse geocoding: the default Photon service at photon.komoot.io receives your search text, optional map-area coordinates used to bias results, or coordinates for reverse lookup.
  • Route calculation: the default OSRM service at routing.openstreetmap.de receives route waypoints and routing options needed to calculate a route.
  • Configurable services: if you change a supported service URL, requests go to the provider you choose. Review that provider's privacy practices; do not include credentials or other sensitive information unnecessarily in service URLs.
  • Shared map links: resolving supported short map links can contact the link provider and redirect destinations. Opening external links uses the relevant app or browser and its privacy practices.

These requests can concern a real location, a mock location, or another area you select. The app cannot control providers' independent logging and retention practices.

Import, export, clipboard, and sharing

Importing a route or library lets Mock GPS read the selected information. Exporting, copying, or sharing can disclose coordinates, names, routes, track timing, and other included data to the destination you choose. Files saved outside the app and information sent to another app may remain there after you delete the original in Mock GPS. Review exported files and recipients before sharing.

Advertising and optional rewards

Versions with advertising enabled use Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). Placements include native ads in eligible place and route lists, occasional interstitial ads at eligible route-save transitions, and optional rewarded ads. Completing an eligible rewarded ad can grant a temporary ad-free period; starting or dismissing an ad alone does not earn the reward.

The app applies a maximum ad content rating of G. This creative-content filter does not make Mock GPS a child-directed app and is not a guarantee that every ad will be suitable for every person. The app is not directed to children. It does not ask for a date of birth or create an age profile for advertising.

Mock GPS does not add your precise GPS position, saved place names, route coordinates, or recorded tracks to ad requests. Advertising services can nevertheless process IP-derived approximate location, advertising or app/device identifiers where available, app/ad interactions, diagnostic information, and consent signals for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and related service functions. This processing is separate from the app's local route library.

Advertising behavior, including whether personalization is permitted, depends on regional requirements, consent, device settings, and Google configuration. Google has its own privacy and retention practices. See Google's Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab) and how Google uses information from apps that use its services (opens in a new tab).

Consent and privacy choices

Where advertising is enabled, UMP checks whether consent or privacy messaging is required. The app requests ads only when the consent SDK reports that requests are permitted. A Privacy choices entry is available when UMP reports that a privacy-options entry point is required. Location tools remain available if advertising, consent services, or the network fail.

You can use available privacy choices and Android advertising controls. Withdrawing consent affects future processing where applicable; it does not automatically delete data already retained by Google or other independent providers. A temporary ad-free reward suppresses eligible ad placements during its active period; it is not a general data-deletion or privacy opt-out mechanism.

Support communications

If you email us, we receive the address, message, attachments, and diagnostic information you choose to send. We use this information to answer your request, investigate problems, protect our services, and meet applicable obligations. Avoid sending route libraries, precise location histories, passwords, or other sensitive information unless necessary for your request. Email and hosting providers process information needed to deliver those services.

Retention and deletion

Local information remains until you delete or replace it, clear app data, uninstall the app, or the operating system removes it. You can manage saved places and routes in the app and use Android app-data controls for a broader reset. Backup restoration can restore some data. Exported copies and recipients' copies require separate deletion.

We retain support communications for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve requests, maintain appropriate records, protect legal rights, and satisfy legal obligations. Third-party map, routing, advertising, platform, and email providers determine their own retention and deletion practices.

Security, international processing, and rights

We use measures appropriate to the app's architecture, including limiting automatic first-party uploads of saved location libraries. No device storage or network service can be guaranteed completely secure. Service providers may process information in countries other than yours, with different privacy laws.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information, withdraw applicable consent, or complain to a privacy authority. Contact us for information held directly by Wolftrail Studio. For information controlled independently by Google or another provider, use that provider's privacy controls or request process as well.

If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent personal information to us, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when features, services, data practices, or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where required.
